Donor Policy
Effective Date

Our Purpose

The Glasgow Foundation accepts charitable contributions to support its educational mission of encouraging, motivating, and educating young people and providing opportunities for success in school and extracurricular programs, consistent with the Foundation's Articles of Incorporation and Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Acceptance of Gifts

The Foundation may accept the following types of gifts:

  • Monetary donations

  • Checks or electronic payments

  • Securities or other assets as approved by the Board

  • In-kind donations consistent with the Foundation's mission

The Foundation reserves the right to decline any gift that:​

  • Is inconsistent with its mission

  • Would create an undue administration burden

  • Could jeopardize 501(c)(3) status

  • Contains restrictions the Foundation cannot reasonably fulfill

Internal Stewardship

Donations are administered for:​

  • Scholarships and educational programming

  • Student support initiatives

  • Operational expenses necessary to fulfill the mission

Financial oversight is provided by the Board of Directors in accordance with nonprofit governance standards.

Dispute Resolution

Any questions regarding donor intent, gift designation, or administration will be reviewed by the Board of Directors in good faith and consistent with nonprofit fiduciary duty.​

Restricted & Unrestricted Gifts
  • The Foundation will make reasonable efforts to honor donor intent.

  •  

    If a restricted purpose becomes impracticable, unlawful, or impossible, funds may be applied to a closely related educational purpose as determined by the Board.

  • The Board retains final authority over the use of all charitable assets consistent with Florida law and the Foundation's Articles.

Donor Recognition
  • Donors may request to remain anonymous in public materials.

  • Recognition decisions rest with the Foundation and will respect donor preference whenever possible.

Policy Authority

This Donor Policy is adopted by the Board of Directors and may be updated as needed to reflect law, best practices, or organizational needs.
